Vivisimo Holiday Card

The Christmas season is a time to reconnect with old friends, wish each other good tidings, and avoid getting stuck under the mistletoe with that weird co-worker from human resources. Vivisimo sought to capture the holiday spirit in their interactive e-mail greeting card. The greatest challenge of this project was the fact that Vivisimo — an information optimization platform that allows users to contribute to organizational content by tagging, voting, annotating, and sharing search results — wanted the holiday card to not only be engaging, but also informative, as it resembled the actual interface the company sells.
The card needed to be fun for Vivisimo’s current clients, and furthermore, needed to present a unique experience that spurred users to pass the interactive card onto family and friends — or, as Vivisimo viewed them, perspective clients. With the challenge laid out before me, I developed the Vivisimo Holiday Card as an interactive game where the user built a custom snowman. They could then add a greeting and send an e-mail to invite friends or family to stretch their holiday creativity in a similar fashion.
The development took months – but it paid off. The holiday card was used by 900 companies, 2,400 people, and had a click through rate of 37 percent from e-mail to webpage. It truly was a happy holiday for Vivisimo. The artwork for the piece was created in Photoshop and Illustrator before it was directly imported into Flash.
